Individual Membership
Individuals are also encouraged to join the Kansas Cavalry. Membership benefits for individuals include the privilege of representing the Cavalry and the state of Kansas through participation in a variety of economic development-related events. Members have the opportunity to join the Governor and Lieutenant Governor at the annual Kansas Cavalry Encampment, where the State presents its top two business awards – the Governor’s Award of Excellence and the Governor’s Exporter of the Year. Individuals will also receive a complimentary subscription to KANSAS! magazine, a personalized Kansas Cavalry name badge and an official Kansas Cavalry membership certificate signed by the Governor. The annual individual membership fee is $200, renewable on the membership anniversary.
Prospective Cavalry members should be actively engaged in a profession or serving in a decision-making capacity in a business, commercial enterprise, school or association in Kansas or be an economic development professional representing a Kansas community or region. Individuals should demonstrate a genuine interest in fostering and safeguarding the economic growth of Kansas and be willing to assist in the state’s economic development efforts.
To become a Kansas Cavalry member, interested applicants must be sponsored by a current Cavalry member. If the interested party knows a current member, he or she simply needs to contact that member and communicate a desire to join the Cavalry. If the interested party does not know a current member, he or she should contact the Kansas Cavalry representative at the Department of Commerce and voice interest in becoming a member.
